My Assigned Duties as an Apprentice Social Work

  • Duties from the Institute Supervisor
  • Duties that are performed During Field Work 
  • Duties from the Agency Supervisor 
Field work is an integral part of the total social work education. As an apprentice social worker we have to face to field work every year. So I was sent to Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) from institute of Social Welfare & Research. I was to maintain some rules and regulations both of institute & agency supervisor. Firstly, they directed me, which work should be performed. Such as: 
Duties from the Institute Supervisor:
  1. Students should have all basic social work knowledge including social work objectives, principals, code of ethics, social work methods, and social work theories and approaches. 
  2. Apply all basic social work knowledge through fieldwork. 
  3. Learn about case recording processes, consult a number of cases and prepare case/group/community work reports. 
  4. To maintain rules & regulations of agency. 
  5. To be oriented with Officers and Staffs of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO). 
  6. To be oriented about background, structure, aims & objectives, goals, principles, nature & programs of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) and School Feeding Program. 
  7. Reading several books related to field work & social work. 
  8. Prepare a field report. 
Duties that are performed During Field Work:
  • Collecting the information about the assigned Organization. 
  • Creating format for information collection. 
  • Keeping process recording paper. 
  • Participate in weekly supervisory conference. 
  • Maintaining rules & regulation of organization. 
  • Library works. 
  • Dealing with cases. 
  • Practicing social work knowledge. 
  • Conduct a Action Research. 
  • Preparing a final report.
Duties from the Agency Supervisor:
  • To maintain rules & regulations of agency. 
  • To be oriented officers & staffs of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO). 
  • To be oriented about background, structure, aims & objectives, goals, principles, nature & programs of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO). 
  • To know about socio-economic condition of students. 
  • Project visiting at Thakurgaon. 
  • Collecting information about School Feeding Program. 
  • Showing the process recording paper. 
  • Taking case study. 
  • Conducting a Action Research. 
  • Make home visit on subject’s (student of case study) house. 
  • Visit every day in Ashkona Primary School. 
  • Maintaining affiliation with ESDO Dhaka office.
